In an ever shrinking world Belize remains totally unique and mostly untouched. Between the rain forests of the Toledo District, the sugar cane fields in Corozal District, the Maya ruins of Cayo District and the off-shore Cayes lays one of the most diverse nations in the world. Diversity in geography and ethnics combined with a non-violent British heritage help set Belize apart from other Central American and Caribbean nations. Almost 1/3 of our nation is set aside in nature and marine reserves.

Belize is a democracy modeled after the Westminster System. Our official language is English and our currency, the Belize Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of $2 BZ to $1 US. All merchants will accept either currency. Our legal system is modeled after British Common Law and we are a Commonwealth Nation as well as a member of Caricom and the UN.

Ambergris Caye and San Pedro Town are nestled along side the Belize Barrier Reef. Being an Island community with a heritage of life along the reef we take the protection and conservation of our reef as the common concern of all Island residents.

Q: Where is the resort located in comparison to town?
A: The resort is located approx 5 miles north of San Pedro Town half way in-between Mata Chica Resort and Portofino's Resort.

Q: Why should I stay North instead of a hotel in town?
A: North Ambergris Caye remains pristine and peaceful. There will be no noise from taxis or bars; you can here the reef at night singing in harmony with the wind in the palms. No traffic, no hassles. San Pedro hustle & bustle is nearby for our enjoyment and needs "but you don't have to live there", as we don't. You can come home to Xaman Ek. Those who choose to stay in town never see the splendor of this pristine and peaceful environment. Xaman Ek gives the best of both worlds.

Q: I am worried it will be difficult to get in and out of town by staying in a resort located north.
A: Xaman Ek has arranged with Island Ferry to supply our guests with unlimited trips to & from town. This Xaman Ek Gold Card Service is available with our domestic transportation package or separately after your arrival. Cost is $70 US for each person. Golf cart rentals are sometimes available but we don't advise it. Many companies will not allow their carts to come this far north considering the "road" is rough at best and golf carts are frequently damaged at the cost of the unsuspecting guest. The boat ride with Gold Card is cheaper and quicker than the golf cart ride, more fun and much smoother too. You get on at our dock and off in "downtown" San Pedro.


Q: How many restaurants are within walking distance of Xaman Ek?
A: There are 4 restaurants within easy walking distance along the beach.

• Mata Chica (approx 10 minutes walk south) open for Breakfast and Dinner
• Rojo Lounge (approx 11 minutes) Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
• Portofino's Resort (approx 10 minutes walk north) Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
• Costa Maya resort (approx 20 minutes north) Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
• Rendezvous House is about 2 miles south is open for Dinner and is accessible by boat with you Gold Card. Reservations please!
• Capricorn's is about 3 miles south, open for Dinner and is accessible by boat with your Gold Card. Reservations a must.
